Bell View’s third grade classes are using gardening to learn about how living things grow and develop. Through the generous support of a grant from Utah Agriculture in the Classroom, they received funds to plant both fall and spring gardens.
First, students cleaned out the garden beds to prepare them for plants. Then students planted cold weather vegetables, such as carrots, kale, spinach, and radishes. They also planted flowers in order to create a butterfly habitat for the butterflies they will grow later this year. “I like gardening. I like smelling the flowers,” said an eager third grader.
If you swing by our garden, be sure to look with your eyes. Our plants are fragile. Observe how the plants change and grow over this fall and into next spring.
